‘The Invaded: an Australian history’ is my take on an Australian version of the Bayeaux Tapestry (circa 1075AD), but instead of the Normans invading Britain, it shows the British invading Australia and the following 230+ years of interaction between ‘the invaded’ and ‘the invaders’.
‘The Invaded‘ is a series of 42 paintings. The paintings read as a book of short stories; sometimes one panel tells a story, sometimes two panels and sometimes three. The paintings are untitled.
In August-October 2020, ‘The Invaded‘ was exhibited at Nyinkka Nyunyu Art and Culture Centre, Tennant Creek, Northern Territory.
